Salary between £31,711 to £33,141 pa.

We invite applications for five new post-doctoral Research Officers to work on a major new research project funded by the European Research Council “Useful and Reliable Knowledge in Global Histories of Material Progress in the East and the West from the Accession of the Ming Dynasty (1368) to the First Industrial revolution (1756-1846)”.

The project is led by Professor Patrick Karl O’Brien and located in the Department of Economic History. The appointments are from 1st August 2009 for 34 months (with possible extension).

Each Research Officer will specialise in one of the following regions: China, Europe, India, Japan and Islamdom.
